Notice of Property Tax Increase

NOTICE OF PROPERTY TAX INCREASE

The Winterville Mayor and Commission have tentatively adopted a 2026 millage rate which will require an increase in property taxes by 59.8 percent.  All concerned citizens are invited to the public hearing on this tax increase to be held at City Hall (Council Chambers), 125 N Church St on July 7, 2026 at 6:00 p.m.

Times and places of additional public hearings on this tax increase are at City Hall (Council Chambers), 125 N Church St on July 14, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. and at City Hall (Council Chambers, 125 N Church St on July 14, 2026 at 6:00 p.m.

This tentative increase will result in a millage rate of 4.5 mills, an increase of 1.684 mills. Without this tentative tax increase, the millage rate will be no more than 2.816 mills.  The proposed tax increase for a home with a fair market value of $400,000 is approximately $269.44 and the proposed tax increase for non-homestead property with a fair market value of $500,000 is approximately $336.80.
